Eligibility
The Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (GKC PRSA) PRISM Awards competition is open to PRSA members and non-members. Entrants must practice within the standard metropolitan statistical area of Kansas City, including Jackson, Clay, Platte, Ray, and Cass counties in Missouri, and Wyandotte and Johnson counties in Kansas. GKC PRSA members residing in eastern Kansas or central and western Missouri, in cities such as Columbia, Lawrence, Topeka or Wichita, also are eligible. The GKC PRSA PRISM Judging Committee will disqualify entries that do not meet all guidelines described in Rules and Format.
Timing
Each entry must be a public relations program or project that occurred between June 1, 2007 and May 31, 2008.

Entry Requirements
1. A typed summary of no more than two pages must accompany each submission.
2. (Optional) Please provide a CD with the two-page summary saved in Microsoft Word for potential inclusion on GKC PRSA’s Web site. By including the two-page summary on CD you grant permission for the chapter to feature your entry on its Web site.
3. You must submit each entry in a three-ring binder. For items that wil
4. l not fit inside the binder, submit color photographs (not larger than 8”x10”). You may provide additional items to further describe the program, provided they fit into the three-ring binder. Copies of key project elements, such as letters, releases, reports, and other documents, are recommended in lieu of originals. Submit audiovisual examples on DVD. Submit radio public service announcements on CD. Provide three issues of regularly published magazines and newsletters, and two issues of biannual publications. CD entries should include one CD. When submitting electronic communication, provide a color printout of the information and a URL address. Submit Intranet sites on one CD, along with the URL, or provide screen captures of site pages along with the URL. The chapter will ship entries to and from the judging site, so ensure all components are well secured. Label each component with entrant’s name, company name, phone number, entry title, and category.

Background
Include a short description of the company or organization for which you completed the program or project. Include other background information that will help judges evaluate your entry.
Research
Summarize research conducted or gathered for the project, and show how that research helped to define your goals, objectives, strategies and target audiences.
Goals and Objectives
State the goals and measurable objectives of the program or project, along with the intended impact on the target audiences and, by extension, the organization.
Methods
Describe the strategies, techniques and tools used to meet the objectives. What key messages did you convey, and why? What, if any, challenges did you overcome? Include the project’s timetable and budget. What extraordinary circumstances did you overcome?
Results
Detail success by matching outcomes to the objectives. Discuss the impact of the program on the target audience and organization. How did you measure results? Did you meet the timetable and budget? If not, why?
Judging Criteria
Judges reserve the right to reassign entries to a category more appropriate. Judges will evaluate entries on the criteria listed herein and on samples of campaign or project materials.
A first-place PRISM Award, as well as a second-place Silver Award, may be presented in each category. Judges reserve the right to grant either no awards or multiple awards per category. Following the event, winning entries will be announced locally, on the chapter Web site and in GKC PRSA’s newsletter, The Network.
Best of Show
Award
Based on scores, judges will select from all category winners no more than three nominees for the Best of Show Award. The Best of Show Award winner will be announced at the 2008 PRISM awards ceremony. Since 1992, the Best of Show winner has received the renowned Steuben Star Stream crystal sculpture and has the honor of keeping the sculpture for display throughout the year.
